Vitamin Angels has five programs:

This program is designed to supply children who are vitamin A deficient, due to a lack of red, green, yellow and orange, leafy fruits and vegetables, with enough vitamin A for one year. We do this by systematically administering two high doses of vitamin A, along with two antiparasitics, per child, per year. We give the antiparasitic in conjunction with the vitamin A because parasites love to consume the vitamin A that is meant for the child. Our cost for the vitamin A, the antiparasitics, logistics, administration and education for one child per year is .25 cents. Vitamin Angels addresses the issue of global malnutrition amongst children with our Children’s Nutrition Program. This program is specifically designed to alleviate the problem by addressing the crisis at hand, putting our attention on shorter routes to better nutrition, and supplying our children with enough multivitamins for one year. We administer prenatal supplements to expecting mothers to prevent and treat malnutrition and to prevent hemorrhaging during childbirth. Malnutrition causes low birth weights, stunting, vulnerability to disease and illness, weakened immune systems, chances of infant mortality are increased, impaired brain development, and poor structural and mental development. In any natural disaster the first things that people need are: food, shelter, clothing and medical supplies. Humanitarian aid organizations do well at getting people the last three but food is an issue because fresh fruits and vegetables are difficult to transport into an emergency situation. For people who are stressed out, not sleeping well, or eating regularly, they are more prone to opportunistic infections and diseases.
